Pre-Marriage Counseling for Pro-Active Couples!

Premarital Counseling Think of it as a pre-flight checkup! Pilots routinely go over every system before they leave the ground.

Isn’t your marriage that important?

Most couples are confident they know the person they are marrying. Pre-marriage counseling (or coaching) is another way to make sure that everything has been checked over before you “leave the ground” on your wedding day.

I have worked with over 250 couples helping them plan for a solid and committed life together.

I offer a three hour opportunity to work with a trained Marriage and Family therapist using information that you provide to gain a better understanding of your relationship … its strengths and challenges.

Here's how it works

  1. You contact me at no obligation and after explaining the process I will send you and your fiancé two separate profiles. The Keirsey Personality Profile arrives by mail. PREPARE you’ll receive as a link. Both can be filled out in the comfort of you home or apartment. Plan on taking about 45 minutes to complete these.
  2. Once I have received notice that PREPARE has been completed I will contact you to set up an appointment.
  3. You’ll come to the beautiful St. Croix valley to meet with me in a relaxed, private setting to get a wealth of feedback regarding your relationship. Comments are practical, specific to the answers you have provided and insightful - information you can use to gain confidence and clarity as you plan for this life-changing event together.

What does Pre-Marriage Counseling cost?

For this valuable 3 hour experience with a licensed Marriage and Family counselor / coach that includes preparation, scoring of PREPARE and professional feedback the cost is $250. Scoring for PREPARE is an additional $29.95 (paid online).

Comments from couples I have worked with:

“A very good experience. Everyone should do this!”

“I’m so glad we were able to take these profiles. These were things we were working on. The tools provided helped a lot.”

“I was initially apprehensive and wasn’t sure I was comfortable discussing personal information … very comfortable with the counselor and enjoyed the content.”

“I thought I knew my fiancé so I didn’t think this would be very useful. It turned out to be very insightful. Thanks.”

“Thank you for a comfortable, fun, learning experience.”

Some facts engaged couples need to know:

  • Pre-marriage counseling can improve your chances of success by as much as 30%.
  • Living together is no guarantee couples can be married to each other.
  • Blind spots are dangerous precisely because you don’t know they’re there.
  • Negative patterns in the first year of marriage can be stubborn to change.

Divorce-proofing your marriage might be so important you might want to ask a family member or friends if they will sponsor you or consider listing PREPARE in your wedding registry.

In my practice I see couples who years later wish they had taken pre-marriage counseling before they got married to avoid needless problems.

PREPARE and pre-marriage planning are one way to make sure that the day you have carefully planned leads to a life filled with joy and satisfaction as it is tested in the years to come.
